Work/Money issue

I worked for a company which required me to undergo a medical test. I was only at work for 2 weeks as I had to leave the company due to family/personal problems. Adequate notice was given however the medical test was booked but as soon as I gave my notice, the medical was cancelled (3 days before test) . Ok I finished from work, 2 weeks later, I got a letter saying I need to pay for the medical. I was told because they incur the cost so l need to pay. But it was cancelled but no mention at the time about it. It was supposed to be free if working for the company more then a month but since it was cancelled less then a month not sure why they are charging me plus it dont mention anything on their contract anything about charges relating to this. what do I do?

THis leaves me out of pocket money for no apparent reason.

Personally i would see CAB i would not pay for this it was cancelled and also nothign mentioned in the contract. Its outrageous.
You can touch the dust but please don't write in it !

Would you like to speak to the man in charge, or the woman who knows whats happening?

I mean if I had went for the test and then left the company they might have a argument but even then it makes no sense as it wasnt stated in the contract plus they didnt even mention it at the time. Its teh first I have heard of it but the point is of course I didnt undergo the test and why was it not mentioned when I cancelled it there would be a charge?

They want to charge me £175 for the medical when I didnt even undergo it.

Nah argue it, it was cancelled in plenty of time, so longs as its done 24hours before anywhere else then they are fine with this. Definately get in touch with CAB to see where you go with this.

Update: just on the phone - they claim I didnt give 24 hours notice (I did though). they claim they cancelled it in the morning of the day (appointment time was 2pm) so thats why they are being charged. Still though, either way - there is no mention at the time or in contract

    Update:

Spoke to ACAS, according to the them it comes down to the T&Cs of the contract so I should stand by with my comment. Apparently Consumer Direct don't deal with these matters, its ACAS they told me.
