csa wanting bank details

I have been paying CSA for a few years now, and not heard from them at all in that time. Just recently though they sent a letter stating they wanted my bank details as they are phasing out cheques and that it would speed up any refunds owed to me. I have always paid by standing order, and never had a refund of any sort. They did contact me a couple of months ago saying i had overpaid, no refund but my future payments were lowered.
I am wary about giving them my bank details. Any advice ?

regards

I too have been written to by the CSA to say they are due me money. 7 weeks later - no refund. Phone them every day and get messed about. I have to pay £363 per month for one child (who is no longer in full time education!)
I've been told they transferred the money to me on 14th June which astounds me because I rang them on the 15th to give them the bank details !
I've now been forced to fax my bank statements to them to prove I haven't received the money. They told me yesterday they are actually due me more money but have decided not to send it incase it gets lost !!!

I think their preferred payment method is by direct debit, hence the bank details. Many people say this allows the CSA to take money when they like, however, if a DD mandate is signed by yourself then you can legally claim it back.

Thing is i am paying them without issue by standing order. They say they only want my bank details so they can issue me potential refunds.. What crap is that !
  • It is a lot easier to issue a refund when an NRP's bank details are on the system, believe me.

If you're currently paying by standing order, and have no arrears and/or payment issues then they will leave you on standing order.
