Thanks for this info Grints. I too received an email from CFO offering CFO Resolve and an 'extra top up' of £150! I also suspected that this was a blatant and sneaky attempt to gain my new bank details( had opened a new bank account and cancelled Continous payment authority on my old debit card). I also set up a DMP with Step Change and after the mess I had also got into with payday loans, I would NEVER seek any further credit etc.
Well done for reporting CFO to the FO and for getting some of your money back. I am also going to do the same. The more people that take action against these online money sharks, the sooner they will, hopefully, be put out of business.

    Hi

I stupidly this evening applied for this CFO resolve as I didnt think a company would dare put this in writing and then be able to take a card payment for a higher amount than they have quoted on the email!!
I should have viewed this forum first but even more stupidly I decided to google CFO Resolve after I had applied.
After being in a panic that I would wake up tomorrow to find my account overdrawn by a few hundred quid (as I have nothing in my account) I phoned my bank and said I have lost my debit card and so they have cancelled the card and sending me a new card.
Will this stop them from being able to withdraw from my bank now or will the fact they have my sort code and account number of my new bank enable them to take a payment.
Do I need to do anything else?
I have them included in my DMP but was tempted by this offer to get the amount owed back down to the original £100.

    Thank you.

If you have a savings account at the same bank and you know what time your wages go in you should transfer them into the savings straight away. Then ask your employer to pay them into that account. better safe than sorry

Your DMP is however a waste of time is you are going to be tempted by the likes of CFO. They are nothing but loan sharks scooping up as much money as they can before they are eventually put out of business. You have a DMP because you are rubbish with your finances. Be careful. I say this as someone who is also rubbish with their finances but now debt free
  • I too have received this email today. I have been on a dmp since July and was the best thing I have ever done. I think that CFO are also going by other names as I have received various texts from payday loan companies. The texts and emails only end up in one place (binned) Seriously though are they breaking any rules in sending out these messages - a couple of months ago I may well have been seriously tempted by them and ended up in even more of a mess than I was already. Is there someone taht they can be reported to as they must be breaking some sort of lending code or anything else, esp since the publicity over payday lenders. Just a thought
