Cleaning keyboard-cleaning disaster-help!!

Today I decided to try cleaning my keyboard with some air duster spray which I thought would work. I used the thin nozzle to direct the spray between the keys to get rid of the gunk but when I inspected my work it looks as if the spray has faded the keyboard colour in places from black to grey which is so obvious. I tried to remedy the situation by using dashboard wipes but the keyboard still looks awful with faded bits on it. Has anyone any suggestions on whether I can bring back the colour or have I commited a faux pas using air duster spray?
