No i have never heard of anyone buying gifts for the god parents. My Father-in-law is a vicar and he also has never heard of this.
Hope the weather is good for you on sunday and enjoy your childs baptism.

We didn't for our sons Godparents but we did send them a nice framed photo & card thanking them after the day for everythign they did on the day & taking on the responsibilty in for the future (in one case as a reminder that it wasn't just about the baptism but a longer term responsibilty!)

I've been God parent twice and haven't received a present. But when we had our dd christened (baptised) we bought mugs that you paint yourself. We put the God parents name on and also a foot print of dd. We just wanted to give them something to remind them of the day and also of the new responsibility they had agreed to. They cost less than £5 for the two.
I like the idea of giving a photo frame and picture of the child and God parent.

I've been a godmother about 10 times now and am about to be once for the 11th. I have never been geiven a present, wouldn't expect one and think it just ups the stakes on present giving which can easily get out of hand (especially if you have 11 god children and 11 nieces and newphews plus my own children).0

Eek!
My DS will (I hope) be Christened in September, and I hadn't even considered gifts to godparents in the costing. TBH, I thought it was the other way round!Always another chapter0 -
I will be the exception to the rule then... I am a godmother and I was given a beautiful silver frame with a picture of my godson in it... I thought that gifts were the norm but I am clearly wrong!!!!
By the look of the other responses I wouldn't bother - MSE style!!

Yes, for DS1 I gave godparents a lovely leather frame with a photo of him in, very autumnal as his Christening was in October .. and for DS2 we gave godparents a set of coasters with his hand and footprints.

Hello
For my baby's Godparents I got two pillar candle's made with my baby's photo on the front (small), date, time, name of church and name of Godparents all on the front under the photo.
They were a beautiful momento of the day and very gratefully received.
Also the Godparent's normally keep the baptismal candle.0
