Hi there

about to remortgage on a buy-to-let and thought i would do an experian credit check prior to this,

I am shocked and worried that my score is 329!!!!

i pay off my credit card on time and pay more than the minimum.

It says i have one default and i think that this is when i got my credit card with Tesco and they failed to set up my direct debit on time and as a result i had a missed oayment. I was sent a letter to apologise for this.

It does not say on the report who the default is with.

other than that mortgages are paid on time, i am on the electrol roll etc.. is there anything i can do to improve my score??

how would i find out who the default is with and how would i clear it??

thanks - i am panicking!

ETA: Just looked and the default wasnt noted with Tesco - it shows me a list of credit cards i have had and dones show any defaults?!

If it says you have a default, it must say who it is with somewhere.

I always take that score with a pinch of salt any, as thats the credit agencies score not a lenders. Get all 3 credit reports and speak to a broker. Im presuming there is atleast 25% equity in the property and with that sort of equity there is usually a way.

  • well i just phoned them and the score in my £2.00 report was just an example and not actually mine! PHEW!!!

so the £2.00 report doesnt actually give you your credit score just tells you who you have credit with!

    thanks

The information on the two quid report is all you need, the credit score they quote is useless, just look at a few other threads.

Strange! So the 210 is also an example? I don't get it!
I'm going to call them when I get home...
  • yes its useless.

It gave me a list of all credit cards i had and have and none of them showed any defaults. I looked on to another page which shopwed a credit score of 320 - which i was shocked and horrified at only to be told when i called them that it was just an example and i would have to pay another £14 for my credit score!

seeing as the £2 showed no defaults on c cards i presume my credit score should be ok- very confusing
