I tried the factor 30 from poundland on Monday and it was useless. I ended up sunburnt and sore :mad:0

I would be VERY cautious about buying these products. Creams etc have expiration dates but these are often not put on the tub, tube. The date can only be checked by the company on the code on the product. A 'gap' in the import/export rules allows nearly-out-of-date or out-of-date-products to be EXPORTED out of the country and then RE-IMPORTED and sold in shops 'again' at a much reduced price. I have bought Elizabeth Arden Invisible cream at half price in Superdrug and discovered that it was one of these products by coming out in a rash. Took it to the Elizabeth Arden counter in another shop where comparison showed that the consistency and the smell were all wrong. This was not a counter-fit product, but too old. Don't take chances with your skin; especially with sun care products. Martin and team, all your research is great, but check for this problem too if possible.0

If something is 'on offer' - then that is one thing
If something important (Like suncream) is ridiculously cheap - then that is quite another.
Skin cancers are one of the nastiest diseases to get.
No one can say how much sun damage is necessary in order to trigger one off. It might be as little as one bad case of sunburn in some people. And the younger you are when you suffer skin damage, the more likely you are to develop problems later on.
A bottle of suncream for a pound is only fit for a bin. It's scary to think that people will be putting it on their kids and thinking they're 'protected'.How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -
DD bought 'Anovia' tropical sun spf 30 for her trip to Spain last month.
She was only taking cabin baggage so wanted something cheap, small and disposable. At 100ml was perfect size. She reports though she spent days at the beach, pool and rock climbing she did not burn once BUT she did reapply several times a day.
Beginning of this year I found Garnier SKI spf 50 sunblock in tiny 50ml tubes in a 99p shop, bought one for each of my girls to carry while they were skiing and they did not burn.
I tend to buy my regular suncream from eitheir Lidl or Aldi. Usually under a fiver and has not let me down so far, though it is not one of those that you apply once and forget about - needs reapplying. I used to buy branded stuff 3 x the price until I overheard staff in a dept store discussing about clearing the shelves and storing until next year! At least Aldi/Lidl packaging seems to change every year so you know you're buying current stuff! No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014. Epiphany on 4/4/14 - went into shop to buy 2 items, walked out with 17!0 -
Hi
the 99p stores have coppertone in a white spray tin with a label stuck on which is just a spray no rub formula factor 30 used it on hubby and myself over the weekend no problems got the cein one from lidl last week which was reasonable0 -
My partner and I used nothing else but the Poundland sun screen on our two week holiday to Rhodes. We didn't burn at all even when on the sea. I used 8, 15 and 30 factors. We always apply 30 minutes before going in the sun and reapply during the day. I've a lovely, even, light golden tan with no peeling and flaking even two weeks later. I'd use it again.0

I bought the 'Avonia' factor 8 sun cream from the 'poundland' section of my local Tesco not from a pound shop. It says it gives UVA and UVB but doesn't have any star ratings on the tube. Found it to be less greasy than the other one I bought tesco own brand.
I have used it over the past couple of days - remembering to reapply every few hours, using the right amount of cream on the skin to begin with, waiting 20 minutes after the inital application. I've had no issues with it.0 -
Bought several 'Miss Malibu' 100ml (Malibu brand) 'no added fragrance factor 50' from 99p Shop in January, took on holiday to SHarm El Sheikh & used this past week. It works & is compliant.0

I haven't bought any of the sun creams in the £ shop, but I wouldn't want to risk it. I've had sunburn in the past, many many times. I've got a bit wiser now and decided that a decent sunscreen is one thing that's worth spending some money on.
The £ shops also have stuff like toothpaste, but as it's already so cheap in superdrug I don't bother getting it from there. I can't be doing with the queues and the stress just to save about 20p :rotfl:0 -

I use arm & hammer toothpaste and always buy it in the poundshops, because you get 125ml for £1, and in Boots/Superdrug its over £2 for a smaller 75ml tube.0
