there must of been equity or how did he remortgage a house with no equity in it?
The point being made is that as a consequence of the remortgage there is no equity left ....
You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'

As a result of his actions I am not in a financially stable position and can't risk incurring solicitors costs.

Correction - you cannot afford NOT to go to a solicitor.

Based on what you have stated this apparently fraud and unless you get the situation resolved your financial future is severely compromised. (What happened to the money realised from re-mortgaging?) As for not wanting to him going to prison because you 'can't do that to your daughter' what about your financial security for your daughter's sake? I do not see how you reluctance to act is helping your daughter.

Unfortunately, sometimes in life there is no easy middle ground. Stop letting him use your daughter as a guilt trip to prevent you from taking action. You either need to be firm and get the situation resolved or resign yourself to the fact that your situation will not change.

I sincerely hope it works out for you.
