From which city can you explore the Pyramids of Egypt?
answer - cairo
If you’ve ever dreamed of seeing the Holy Land here’s an incredible opportunity. We’ve teamed up with Thomson Cruises to offer one lucky reader and their guest the chance to win an amazing Eastern Mediterranean cruise holiday for two.
During your cruise you’ll be able to see some of the world’s most exciting archaelogical treasures, including Tutankhamun’s tomb and the Wailing Wall. Cities you’ll visit include Jerusalem and Bethlehem.
You’ll travel on Thomson Majesty, the latest addition to the Thomson Cruises fleet. Cabins are modern and well-dressed, and every outside cabin comes with a picture window. The ship boasts five restaurants, stylish piano bars and lounges for entertainment, and also has a state-of-the-art spa, with two saunas and seven themed treatment rooms.
Your Intinerary
Day 1: Fly to Limassol, Cyprus, where you’ll embark on your cruise on board the Thomson Majesty.
Day 2: Alanya, Turkey. Legendary hangout of Queen Cleopatra, must-sees include the Manavgat Waterfalls; the surreal rock formations at Damlatas Cava; and Perge and Aspendos, with their ruined temples, theatres and aqueducts.
Day 3: At sea.
Day 4: Alexandria, Egypt. A medley of mosques, churches and monuments jostle for your attention in Alexandria. You’ll also have the opportunity to visit the military museum at El Alamein.
Day 5: Port Said, Egypt. Guarding the northern entrance to the Suez Canal, Port Said is the perfect springboard from which to discover the sights and wonders of Cairo. And on the edge of the city, where Cairo merges into desert sands, you’ll discover the Pyramids.
Day 6: Ashdod, Israel. From Ashdod you can visit the awe-inspiring cities of Jerusalem and Bethlehem. See the Garden of Gethsemane, stand in the shadow of the Wailing Wall and enjoy floating around in the Dead Sea.
Day 7: Ashdod.
Day 8: Return to Limassol and fly back to the UK.

The FCO advise against all but essential travel to parts of Egypt visited on this holiday so you may have issues with insurance if you're brave enough to go.
