Village Hotel Gym Membership - Haggling

I'm currently a member at the Village Hotel Gym in Cardiff. I have been a member for almost 5 years now and do make use of my membership going 3/4 times a week.
In order to save a bit of money, I recently dropped from the gold (full access) at £56.50 a month to £50.50 per month for off peak gold (Monday to Friday until 1700 and then after 2000 and all weekends / bank holidays).
From talking to others in the gym they are paying around £10 a month less for the same membership. I just phoned up to try and get a better deal, even signing up for 12 months but there was nothing on offer.
Am considering putting in a cancellation notice to see if they will come up with a better price but just wondered if anyone else had had any luck in haggling a better deal with other Village Hotels?

I'd be very interested to know what deals other people are getting, either in Cardiff or from around the UK.
I am about to try and negotiate a family package in the near future.If national debt is increasing and we're in a global recession, who exactly are we borrowing money off? Aliens?!0
