Sun cream

Where is the best place to buy sun cream/spray. Quite high factor for a typical Scot. Thank you.

I was in Superdrug yesterday and saw loads of bottles of sun cream reduced because the bottles were slightly damaged. Might be worth a look.

Not high factor but I can definitely recommend P20. Not that cheap either but will last ages. You only apply it once in the morning and that's it, even if you go swimming there's no need to re-apply.
I'm fair skinned and always used to burn until I started using this. The only thing to remember is not to go in the sun for the first 15 minutes after applying.

Edit: most chemists sell it, as do Wilko's

Do you have a Home Bargains nearby? They have some factor 50 at a good price. In fact, they might even sell them online. Not all their products can be delivered, and sometimes the p+p charges make a small order pointless, but it's worth a look.

And please don't buy P20-no offence to Opal Fruit-but I was reading some articles about sun creams last week and they were very dubious about once a day sun creams. I'd rather top up and make sure I'm protected. But yes, applying it 20-30 minutes before sun exposure is a must.

Edited to add-someone mentioned recently that water based ones are good if you have oily or sensitive skin. Not looked into that, but my two Banana Boat SPF 50 are water based. Also check whatever you buy has both UVA AND UVB protection!

Got some factor 50 from Aldi the other day £2.99. They have factor 30 and 10 too.

Another question - what is best spray or lotion/cream?

    Thank you.

I'd second the Aldi recommendation. The spray for kids is great, really light and easy to rub in. Cheapy cheap cheapness and aldi's usual excellent quality. Not so sure about why it's a 'fun' green colour but it disappears once on the skin. I get the factor 30 which does protect my scottish skin quite well. I've not tried (or seen) their factor 50.
  • Hi all,

We featured a guide to sun cream in this week's email. It contains lots of info on safety and where to find the best bargains. Hopefully it will be of some use to anyone reading this thread.
