high stool to put camera tilted on

I want to record something in my room

I have found that if I tilt my smartphone while it's against the wall, it gets the view I want it to get. But I want it to be there when i'm not holding it.

How can I / what should I get, to hold my smartphone in place safely?

high up, and tilted.

You can actually buy tiny tripods that will help you get the angle you need while securely holding up your smartphone. This will probably be your best bet, just so you don't have to deal with it falling or anything like that.

You can also get a Breffo Spiderpodium that should do the job:

    http://www.breffo.com/

Be careful if ordering from eBay/Amazon marketplace as there are fakes out there

That "spiderpodium", is about 20cm full span, and works to wrap around an existing object in the room and holds the camera to that.

I don't have an existing object in the room to wrap around.

I need something that is actually 8ft high and also stable.

How permanent do you want it to be? How about buying hooks that fix up using command strips (so they can be taken down with - hopefully - no damage), and then make some kind of cradle that can hang from the hook and hold your camera at the right angle.

    maybe a few weeks.
command strips can sometimes take off some wall paint, and my phone is valuable I don't want it to drop really. So i'm looking for a stand really.

I don't think you will find anything that is 8ft high and stable unless it is fixed to the wall in some way (or else has a large base). The best I could think of is a stepladder, turned parallel to the wall. Or a bookcase, although really one that tall should be fixed.

If you're looking for a permanent set up, google mobile phone tripod adaptors or attachments, then purchase one, along with a tall tripod.

I've searched for tall tripods and they are very expensive.
I want an 8ft stand to attach it to.
