Consent to let for Armed forces -abbey/santandair

We have a mortgage with abby/santandair and are based in Germany, the property was bought on the understanding that we would occupy it on periods of leave/ long weekends until I leave the Army.
This isn't working and we are never there and we are considering applying for consent to let/lease. The only thing is the rent would not cover the mortgage, this isnt a problem for us as we are comfortably paying the mortgage and for our army house at present, does anyone know the banks policy on this?
Does anyone have any experience forces or not with consent to let from abby.
TIA
