I have just contacted the CSA to tell them that i have lost my job and i pointed out that for the past two months i have been receiving SSP and would send them all the wage slips as proof but the man said this doesn't matter as because i never told them at the time they cannot change it.
So if this is true this means they are charging me £50 a week for 2 months rather than £5 a week for 2 months is this correct? how can they be allowed to do this if the income they assess at isn't the income you are actually getting?.

Yes this is correct. You didn't notify them of the change in your salary and reassessments of CM are taken from the day you inform them of the change.0

why did you not inform them 2 months ago? If you were so ill that communication (written, spoken) was impossible or very difficult, you would perhaps have a case for appeal with some professional evidence, but other than that, you are seen as an adult who is capable of providing the necessary information at the correct time: it is in all the literature that they will have sent you when the case was opened and you can find it at any time on the gov.uk website/csa website.0

It does work the other way too. if you had a wage increase (providing you aren't paying DEO) it wouldn't be back dated until you or the PWC asked for a reassessment.I'm never offended by debate & opinions. As a wise man called Voltaire once said, "I disagree with what you say, but will defend until death your right to say it."
Mortgage is my only debt - Original mortgage - January 2008 = £88,400, March 2014 = £47,000 Chipping away slowly! Now saving to move.0 -
And the problem with "temporary changes" when you notify the CSA is that unless it is for a period of more than 13 weeks, they will not change it anyway...!!!
Double standards from them, i had this argument constantly with them...! When i broke my back i was self certified for 7 days and then sick note for 13 weeks, and they wouldn't play ball, but it was pointed out to them this was MORE than 13 weeks, but they tried the self certificate period would not count, so i simply asked the doctor to certify for 15 weeks from date of the accident, and they had no choice...!!!0
