Im filling in a application form, what does this mean please?

Im just a little stumped on this question, here it is

"
Please provide details of four referees who have known you for at least two years within the last 5 years and who can confirm that you have been employed/ unemployed at the dates you have provided above. These referees cannot be employers, blood related or related by marriage or civil partnership or live at the same address as you."

Doe this mean I can put my bosses names down,I have four members of staff who I am under and who I class as my bosses.
Sorry forum members Ive not filled in a application form for many years, its more daunting than I thought

It says 'cannot be employers' so it looks to me they want character references. Four of them though?!

What kind of work are you applying for, just out of interest.

Extraordinary to say employers can't be referees to confirm you have been employed! Does it really say that?

How many employers (organisations, not individual people) have you had in the last five years?

Was there any period of unemployment in those five years?

    Hi,many thanks for your replies.
The job is working for Securitas, its a security firm.
Ive worked at my present job for the past 16 years.
Its just kind of baffled me this question??

Would it mean I could ask 4 of my work colleagues to be referees instead of my bosses I wonder.?

That's a tough call. Not many folk left that they will accept.

Yes I reckon ex colleagues would be the best bet. Maybe best friends? Maybe customers of your employer?

    Its very weird Dimey???

I know my friends would give me a glowing reference but Im sure it would of been better if my bosses were to tell them what Im like as a worker.

    Very weird?

sounds like co-workers are they only people they would accept. Afterall, they will be the only ones that know for sure you are working.

Friends will technically only have your word that you are working.

Seems abit odd really, you would have thought that the employers would be the best to say if you have been employed all not, with others just used as character references

So co -workers it is then:T

I now have the choice of picking 4 out of a possible 32 in my group!
Securitas must have a good reason why they don't want my bosses to tell them what I am like......but it does seem very strange.

Many thanks for your help everyone:T

Ex-employers, doctor, vicar, chairman of any clubs or societies you are a member of, long term friends, people who you do voluntary work with.

Depending what job you had before you could use a supplier or customer of the last company you worked for that you had direct contact with

I read it as "not to be an employer who is related to you"

So as long as you haven't been working for a relative, like in a family firm, then you can put your boss down.
I don't respond to stupid so that's why I am ignoring you.
