Cancelling Sky - a performance!

Nineteen minutes. It took that long for the Sky cancellation person to admit defeat and accept that I really, really wanted to cancel and no, I didn't want Sky+ plus refurbed equipment, neither did I want to take up Sky Broadband!!!
In between all that we discussed mobile phone packages (the current 3 offer), moving from one energy supplier to another (he's with British Gas and is too lazy to change), the joys of using Sky+ and conducting financial reviews periodically.
I was almost tempted to mention this site but bit my tongue just in case he spread the word amongst the staff to try to fob off any MSE'er.
The upshot to all this is my 30 day notice starts today and on 2 July they will deduct my final payment of 48p. I will probably rejoin in December in time for Christmas and, depending on how my neighbour gets on with Sky Broadband I might, maybe sign up for that also, as I will save money overall.

Im glad im not the only one. We switched to Virgin and then rung sky yesterday to cancel. After talking to someone (who said he was the right department) for about 10 minutes asking me why i didnt ring them sooner to discuss a change in package and was i sure i wanted to cancel decided he wasnt the right department after all and would have to put me through to "a very long queue of people, where it might take quite a long time to get through" this was just another stalling technique to try to get me to change my mind. After having the same conversation about cancelling they admitted defeat. I now have the same problem of having to have sky for another 30 days0

Just be careful and make sure that you really have cancelled as when I cancelled they wouldn't accept it for 2 months. They kept saying they had no record of my cancellation even though I had names/dates/times written down it made no difference. That's why I won't go back to the b*****ds now not even for free sky+, I'd like to but it's the principle of it, they made me pay for an extra 2 months of something I didn't want and had cancelled!!!!:mad:0

Nineteen minutes isn't too bad - last time I cancelled it was only about 12 mins, but the time before was 27 mins!! I tihnk it depends when you do it, and what their quotas are like!Be an amateur! Professionals built the Titanic, amateurs built the Ark!!
Be sure of always hitting your target.....
