UNFAIR Parking Fine - to add to my problems. RANT

As per my post the other day i really want to get back to DFW - i cancelled my £30 shoe order ( I REALLY wanted them but dont need them) and took by my impluse purchases.

I have been REALLY good and yesterday went into town only to buy a few necessary things - i stuck to my guns didnt buy and additional crap, any impluse things, didnt get any food or drink for my son (we were only there 1 hour but he still moaned for mcdonald)

So all was going well...

... went to church this morning - PAID my 60p for my parking ticket - put it on the dash board went to church...

Came out to a Penalty notice - the ticket had 'slipped' down the dash and had turned over in the process HOW HOW HOW i dont know maybe when we shut the door.

I was SO upset - I ALWAYS pay for my ticket (not clutter up the road behind the church to avoid paying the 60p like everyone else).

So now its another £30 to add to my debt - makes it so much worse its the same price as the shoes (i know if had bought the shoes i would have been another £30 down)

I dont think i can appeal as the ticket was visable but not properly.

To make things worse had a huge row with my husband over it - he cant see why i was getting so upset as its only £30......... it was that attitude that means (a) we have no money (b) i am in debt (so is he but thats another story)

WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY - when you try and sort fiances out things like this happen.

(do you think if they make me pay the £30 they will refund my 60p!! i am trying to be positive.).

So sorry to hear your having troubles. as per the parking ticket I presume you kept hold of the one you bought? then take it in as proof you paid to park. if it had only slipped down the dashboard and was still visible (despite overturned) then I'd expect they would be leniant in this case but warn you to be more careful in future.

    good luck with it x

I know how you feel, I had a parking ticket yesterday...just as I had sold some stuff on ebay now the profit goes to the council..Ba***ds. It would be good if you could reclaim parking tickets, like bank charges..:D Anyway hope you and hubby make it up and im sure you will make up the £30 somwhere like a mysteryshop or summit..Keep smiling

Definitely appeal, you have proof you've paid - if no joy contact the local press and try & kick up a fuss, should make them think again.

I agree, as long as you have kept the ticket, it proves that you paid so you can take it along to the council or whoever and show that the fine was issued in error. No need even to mention that it had slipped down the dash, I would just say that you had a valid ticket, produce that valid ticket and ask them to withdraw the parking fine.

If they don't then take it further. You should not have to pay this.

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

    APPEAL!!!!

I used to work for a company in central London where various drivers got tickets almost constantly as they had to stop on double yellows to open the door to the warehouse to drive into - I think the wardens actually lurked!

Anyway, part of my job was to write off to appeal them, and many of them got cancelled - the ticket may have slipped, but you have proof that you bought it, and the traffic warden does not have proof that it wasn't displayed properly - you can argue that you put it on the dashboard, and the warden obviously just didn't see it!

    Appeal!

Of course they *could* argue that you failed to display it ;)

You have nothing to *lose* by appealing (but do so quickly!) - send in a photocopy of your ticket, not the original!!!

This happened to a friend of mine - she appealed and got her money back without too much of a problem.

If you still have the ticket you can prove you paid for it...

    Good luck

Thanks guys for your support - i will definitely appeal - have calmed down now!! Hubby found his 'human streak' and agreed if i had to pay it - i could take it from the joint account (only used for bills) which takes the pressure of a bit.

I know £30 isnt a earth shattering amount but it is when you havent got it.

I also found out that it was my turn on the flower rota at church today so thats another £10 - i agreed to do it for one year (twice a year) but asked to be removed last year and they obviously didnt do it. I will pay for today with a note in asking them to remove me permenantly from the rota.

out of this all came a discussion with my friend who makes and sells card - i take really good photos (if i can blow my own trumpet) and she is going to help me make some cards up see if we can generate any orders when she does craft fayres etc... so at least something good may come out of it.

I have also sent a few 'funny pics' in to some womens magazines - fingers crossed they may print one (£25 to me if they do).

I am also going to start 'pressing' work for my expenses (£61 from one section about £18 from another... i will need to give them the bill for the shopping i do tomorrow so may be a little more).

So i am definitely back on the DFW wagon - i wont let this deter me (normally i do either comfort eat or comfort spend when i am having a bad day - managed to do neither today!!)
