Credit File Entries

I have a few defaults on my credit record that are due to disappear this year, as I acquired them in 2001 - 3 should have dropped off in May alone. I still have outstanding balances on these accounts, and I'm still making regular payments.
The question I have is this: if a creditor, say a DCA, whose details have dropped off my file, then makes me an offer of a Full & Final settlement for say, 50% of the outstanding balance, and I took up that offer, would a new default appear on my credit file? Likewise, if the initial offer came from me and the DCA accepted it, would a new default appear?
Although I have no intention of applying for any more credit, for my own peace of mind I would like to know that my credit record is clean. The last 6 years , since it all went pear-shaped, have been a long slog, and it's good to see things drop off my record - I really don't want anything new to appear, just because either I've taken up the creditor's offer of settlement, or had an offer of mine accepted by a creditor.
Thanks for reading this.

The statute-barred rule doesn't apply here. I have been paying these debts for the last 6 years, and I will continue to do so until the debts are cleared.
It's just that the defaults are starting to disappear from my record, and I wouldn't want them to reappear because either I've taken up the offer of a reduced settlement or had my offer to the DCA of a reduced settlment accepted.0
