  • What time of year are you thinking? what time of year can narrow down your choices.
Also what about flight times? long haul or short haul?
k nowing what type of wedding you want can narrow it down also (eg beach wedding)

Hi! If you want somewhere suitable for kids, I would probably recommend somewhere in Europe rather than long haul, as kids aren't big fans of long flights.

Then I would narrow it down to what kind of destination you want. I take it you're looking for a beach wedding? Google 'child-friendly European wedding destinations' and see if anything comes up there.

After that it's a matter of finding out what legal hoops you need to jump through and whether you would need your marriage certificate licensed there.

    Hope that helps!

We got married in Lindos, Rhodes. It might not be ideal for children as it is hilly, but the beaches are safe and clean, and the restaurants are all child-friendly. You could stay in Pefkos which is just up the road, much flatter and family friendly and cheaper. We had a wedding planner who did everything for us, which I would highly recommend if you can afford it.

An alternative might be a beach hotel in somewhere like Cyprus. My husbands niece got married a few years ago at the Kefalos Beach Hotel, Paphos which is very nice and has it's own chapel, but doesn't have a sandy beach.

Gibraltar also seems to be very popular. Still GBP, only a short flight but cheaper than here and with good weather.

    Enjoy planning!x

I second Joho's suggestion even as far as staying in Pekfos (flat & family friendly)

My Mam got married in the Rodos Palladium in Faliraki, Rhodes and it was beautiful. We stayed at the Hotel Esperides along the road which had soft play for kids, kids pools, climbing wall, clubs and entertainment. It's far enough away from Faliraki and the buses to Pefkos, Lindos and Rhodes Town are regular and cheap.

My sis-in-law got married in Lindos and the chapel is stunning but it is hilly. I did manage with a pushchair and an 18month old though so it wasn't too off putting.
My brother's friend got married at Lake Bled in Slovenia which looks stunning.
    Good luck

Are you specifically thinking beach ?
Do you want long haul or short haul ?
What does child friendly actually mean to you ? For some it means all day and all evening childcare-for others it means a nice beach :)

We got married in Lapland, not ideal if your wanting sun and beach, but I would imagine the kids would love it, especially if you went in December!

We got married in Orlando 2 years ago - just took one day out of our family holiday. Organised it all from this end, booking the notary, venue, etc and when we got there we just had to go to the courthouse to get a license. Next day we were back at Universal!

We got married in the Dolomites in Italy. Organised it all ourselves in a DIY job!
