Peter Jones Tycoon ITV Show Bladez Toyz Shares

Hello! Not sure if this is the right place to be posting this so sorry if it's not.

In 2007 I (and 1,999 people) won this competition. The winners all got shares in Bladez Toyz, the winner of the ITV Peter Jones contest "Tycoon". In order to receive the prize I had to open an account on share.com so the shares had somewhere to go. Eventually (after months of waiting) I got a statement off them showing 20 shares in my account. Bladez Toyz still isn't on the stock market so the shares are worth £0.00. Every now and again I receive a statement off The Share Centre displaying my accounts shares (20 shares - worth nowt).

A couple weeks ago I received a letter off The Share Centre telling me I'll now be charged £1.50 + VAT a month to have the account open. I've sent an email on the Peter Jones site and one to Bladez Toyz asking about the shares but have still received nothing.

I'm posting in the hope any of the other winners see this and to warn them about the charge and ask what is it your going to do with your account? I'm not sure whether or not to close mine. Will I still be entitled to the shares if I shut my account now and the company goes on the stock market in the future?

I didn't get any notification but I have moved house, I have queried this a few times but they do not even answer emails.

that's a stupid prize! complain to peter personally asking for £100 or whatever as its not your fault that the company stopped. Good luck

The thing is though, that if your prize was shares my instinct is saying that they won't be obliged to honour any monetary gain, because shares may/may not make a profit. Don't take what I'm saying as true, because I am not pretending to be an expert, but perhaps be prepared in case that is the way it goes.

Unfortunately for the OP, this is the way I see it going. You have the shares as promised, but because they are not yet on the stock market, the value of them is 0. Although a public tweet to Peter Jones may lead to something.

Can you look into moving them from Share Centre to somewhere that doesn't charge?

I gave up on this ages ago and it was only worth about £100, so will track down my paperwork tomorrow and try and close the share account.

I am just chalking it up to the worst promo ever and my only (so fa;)r) ITV win :rotfl:

Would going to the media about it help given the numbers involved? Shame them into sending out an alternative prize (and cancelling the shares).
