Can anyone help me ? I have been trying to re do our bathroom for as little money as possible. It is looking good in pale blue and white and only bought blue paint on offer. :T I have already got one of those wooden laundry bins made of small pieces of walnut, so it is covered in square holes. Hope you know what I mean. I would like to paint it using a tin of water based acrylic satin finish that I have in the shed. Already done the louvre doors on the boiler cupboard and it looks good. Has anyone painted one of these before ? I'm just a bit bothered that painting inside all the holes might not work and it will end up looking a mess. Its just that a new one in white is about £40, which I don't really want to spend. any suggestions or help would be wonderful. Thank you all you lovely people.:A

Go for it.. it should be fine.. it will be a laborious task painting in the holes but will be worth it in the end I'm sure!
Make sure it is clean, dust free and dry before you start though.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
get some spray paint.
or try and borrow some kind of diffuser from someone. You might be able to get away with one of those spray bottles.....Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
Professional opinion from DH.
1. If you can take it apart (look for some screws) life will be much easier.
2. Paint the inside first.
3. Apply the paint using a mini foam roller (very cheap, he says) then, immediately, draw a brush across with a little paint on to minimise runs and help clean excess paint from the internal corners of the holes.
Also, if there's a "back" (maybe the lid is hinged?) do that side first so you're more confident with the bits that show.Avoiding plastic, palm oil, UPF and Nestlé0 -
Thank you everyone. I think I just have to allow plenty of time and do it in bite sized chunks. If I can take it apart I could just do one bit at once. Don't mind if it takes a while. It would not cost anything except maybe one of those little rollers. Can't bring myself to pay £40 I can't afford when the paint is in the shed ! Maybe I'll do it when we come back from hols ...................0
