Group of Financial Companies, GFC, who are they?

Hi,
I have been pestered by phone calls from an Indian Call centre (well I think anyway as always Indian accent!!). I have tried all attempts to stop the calls, from being nice to them, being angry with, being rude, not answering, answering but not talking...anything to show that I am not interested. But they still keep calling. I have stated in no uncertain terms that I do not want anything from them, I have politley asked them to stop calling.
Twice they called yesterday, the first time I asked them who they were, but the accent was so strong I just could not understand them, the guy was rude when I asked can you repeat your company name, I was told "I already told you once", at that point I lost it and shouted..... an hour later they rang back, this time my wife took the call and eventually got out of them their name which is Group of Financial Companies or GFC, who are basically trying to get me to swap my mortgage to them. They refused to give a contact telephone number.
So what I am asking is, is there anyone out there that knows what this company is about, I want to report them to someone for harressment, because the calls are now so frequent that it is now a nuisence. 3 to 4 times a week and twice in one day.
Before anyone says it, yes I have been registered with TPS for years, no I never buy over the phone and have never done so, the call comes up with "International Call" as I have call indentifier. No at the moment I cannot ignore all International calls because our daughter is currently in South Africa and it may be her trying to contact us.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do to stop these calls, on one of that last calls they stated that they represent one of the largest UK Mortgage companies, but of course as they call from out of the country then TPS can't touch them.
Help!!!!

when they call next time say "telephone preference service" and see how fast they hang up. You will never eradicate these calls but the above phrase certainly puts some of them off ever calling again.
Or next time you answer the phone and there is noone there saying hello, hang up.0 -
contact BT and complain that these people are causing harrassment. Maybe they can block their number or something?I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. The TPS may not have any jurisdiction over them but the FSA do. Cold calling by mortgage companies is a breach of FSA rules. Next time they phone, note some details and then complain to the FSA.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
TPS does not work with international numbers.
Whoever is your telephone provider, they WILL have a harrassment dept, contact and leave it with them to deal with.0 -
Hi, I have stated I am with TPS, no response!
I am with BT for line rental, and talk talk for calls, not sure quite which to call over this, I assume BT. Having said that I do not have a number from this company, and they refuse to give one.
FSA, will try that route. Many thanks all.

I am sure if you report to BT or TT they will be able to see what calls come in otherwise every person who made harrasment calls would hide behing 141 or being unlisted.

A number of fun things to do with these type of calls:
Hold an electric razor to the handset, switch it on and try to explain that the interference is causing problems.
Role play an argument with OH involving lots of screaming and the words 'put down that knife'. Then calmly carry on the discussion following a long heartfelt scream.
Give bored monosyballic answers
Wait until you are made the 'special offer' and make an offer of your own along the lines of "If you promise not to call again I will promise not to tell you to **** off (add term of choice). Its amazing how many times this works when all else fails
Yes I know that call centre staff have a job to do, but if their employer is too stupid to take your name off the list you might as well have a laugh0
