Any recommendations for supply and fit of a woodburner stove and flue? -who did you get it from, was work professional?

What sort of price can I expect to pay. It will be standalone not part of central heating.

Thanks - East Antrim area preferably.

I used the Stove Yard N'Ards to supply & fit

    very professional

Very difficult to price but they will do a free survey first to see what is required. How big is the room ? Chimney might need relined etc etc

Probably around £800- 1000 for a good one fitted

This is the beat time of year to buy, not as busy as in the winter time

Sorry to say I would not recommend The Stove yard under any circumstances. Daughter approached them in June 2012 for exactly the same reason. ie. summer time when they would not be so busy. Full of great sales talk. Organised a survey of property. Messed her about no end, then finally said the stove she had ordered and had negotiated a deal on, was unsuitable. This was stated the day before they were due to fit the stove concerned. Surveyor thought that the property shared a chimney with neighbour and said they could not break into a common flue. Had he taken the bother to look at the chimney he would have seen that there were two separate chimney pots, one for each property. We went back that many times we lost count. We were continually ringing them to find out what they were doing, and we just got the runaround. We finally gave up the ghost in December 2012, some 6 months after approaching them. They were totally amateurish with us and we never received as much as an apology for their total lack of service.

Sorry I would much rather post a brilliant recommendation of a local firm, but in this case I would not want anyone else to experience what we had to put up with and in the end get absolutely nowhere.
  • Bought from stove yard as above. Used their fitters. Highly recommend for price and service. Very efficient. No mess. Love my stove.

I wouldn't buy a woodburning stove (or any eco/heating/energy generating stuff) in Northern Ireland at the moment, as we're waiting for our great leaders in Stormont to decide what to do with the money they have for the 'Green Deal' that you'll hear people in England/Wales talking about.
Would you want to buy something then find out you could get a 50% grant or something towards it?

    The "green deal" isn't a grant, it's a loan.

You pay the loan back through higher electricity bills.

Not really worth it in my opinion.

It is a loan on the mainland, yes, sorry for the confusion, but it isn't ANYTHING here, yet. It's a pot of money for them to spend as they see fit. Grants/loans or whatever crazy scheme they come up with...
  • It's nearly 30 Degrees outside and your talking about wood burners !!!!!!

    £12 million.

I'm surprised to be honest, the DUP could have insisted their construction friends became the Green New Deal sole partners.
