You clearly spend a lot of time in Morriebobs etc. Do you ever get asked what you are doing ???
Good question - thanks for asking!
I did get asked once, when I first started doing it. I just said I was getting details of their offers. The manager replied 'okay, alright then' and left at that. I've never been asked since.
This was in the main store that I now use. I think they've become used to me in there - the staff, over the couple of years, have obviously seen what I'm doing - and I bet they think I'm crazy/eccentric etc. (the latter of which I undoubtedly am) - and I'll tell you a couple of recent instances I nearly mentioned on here before (but just didn't get round to including it in all the masses of info. I write).
One week I started, in front of the Sprite 500mls, just as one of the staff came along to re-fill the shelf - I was sort of there, taking the price down, whilst she was just behind me, waiting to fill, I stood up and turned round, nearly bumped into each other, she said "No - keep going!'. That was literally the first price I had taken - £1.19 or 'buy-one-get-one-free' by the way!
A few weeks back I met a man in the wines area (a member of staff) - he said "here you are again, taking those prices!" (or something to that effect), we had a brief conversation (which had the unintended effect of only delaying my task of collecting the prices:() - I told him I did save a lot of money (didn't mention exactly how however:D) - okay, fair enough, in the wines/alcohol area where the items can be quite expensive. I kept going, and rechecking some items, I moved to leave that aisle, he asked, again quite pleasantly, had I finished. I replied, "No - I do the whole store!!" :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I don't know what he was at that (perhaps quite surprised, bemused, amused, whatever he was)...and then I proceeded to continue to cover all aisles until I finished!
I have been mistaken (by other customers) for a member of staff on a number of occasions. Quite why when I have shopping basket etc. with me I don't know (one of them was a woman with her young child). I'm always as helpful as I am, and they've never really asked me any complex questions (to which I would point them to a member of staff). They usually get me to pick a nearby item off the higher shelves for them, as I am quite tall. It takes a matter of seconds and then I go on.
There are another couple of stores I use occasionally. Mostly now for the odd confirmation of a very small number of items. However I have done full collections in each of them at one stage or another and neither of them seems to have noticed or asked me anything! Surprisingly, perhaps, I use the store that - only once - asked me. Just because it is open slightly later than the others and because it is the bigger of the stores.
As regards the price collection exercise, this has greatly expanded - I used to only get prices of items that I would ever dream of buying. Now though with here, I get prices for whole shelves of items that I never even buy! And it just keeps expanding each week, with more items coming out of wombles for me then to check, more special things like glitchable ones and promotions at competitors, but I've got it in shape - sometimes it takes longer and I end up with fewer prices, sometimes it takes less.
My plan is to keep on going until they finally go online. It's not unduly burdensome (from my point of view anyway) - although, as you know, I have periods of frustration within some price collections, about the sheer number of different flavours/varieties of an item within an offer etc. This week's collection wasn't too bad - there weren't many new items (of large numbers of different varieties on shelves) to take down and nearer the end it was more like, that's still on, that's still on, and that's still on!0 -
Whats the deal with the first group?0

That's strange  I was in an As about 3 weeks ago and there was a gent in there that seemed to be in every single aisle I went to:eek: He had no basket or trolley and seemed to be doing nothing more than looking at stuff on the shelves, or maybe prices?
By the time I got to the freezers at the end I saw him yet again and he still hadn't picked a single thing up to buy. I did wonder what he was doing and why he never bought anything. I dismissed it and haven't thought about it until now

Perhaps he was working for a competitor??
I did much the same (not every aisle though:eek:) in Sains tonight - did have my bags ready, and ready to get a basket, if I had found a good selection of the items I wanted in there - but main aim tonight was a quick whip round to see what they stocked, so I could prepare my basket properly for tomorrow (or later). (And also to see if anything obvious stood out that was worth getting in A vs them etc.) They say that, if you are in any main supermarket at peak times (7-8pm??) there's more than likely at least one person in there checking prices for a rival. I must admit I've never spotted any - though perhaps I should look harder next time I go! Got me watching for the price watchers now - I'm a little tiny bit off normal, but in a good way!:)0 -

Evening all.
I'm the only person I the canteen again, was it something I said...? :rotfl:
Savvy that's such a lovely post to read. It reminds me of when we went on the train last year and we saw the same bloke at 2 stations on the way and he ended up near our final destination over a hundred miles from home. He was a train spotter and he'd gone all that way just to jot down numbers.
I know it's different to what you do but it's also a harmless hobby, he was hurting nobody, I was just amazed at he sheer dedication him and others like him must haveHistoric Debt August 2009 = £63,600 10th March 2017 = £0 100% paid all gone!
