Music Magpie - Is it worth it?

Hey guys,
I'm trying to a) clear out some space and b) earn some extra cash to put towards a credit card debt and I keep seeing Music Magpie about.
I'm far too lazy to individually list all my CDs on ebay, my local CD exchange will often reject a lot of stuff if they have too many copies etc and I thought that this looks like a , relatively, stress free way to get rid of a lot of CDs.
Is it worth it? I would say I have several hundred CDs all of which I have backed up. How fast do they pay? Do you get an ok return etc?

Obviously if you are selling the original media you legally must delete any copies of it that you've made.
I know when I checked my items most were a pound or less and so simply wasnt worth the time and effort0 -
It is worth checking the prices on more than one site because they vary quite a bit.0

Ooh I didn't know that! I used to have a few rare CDs i used to get sent as a freelancer and got paid like £5/6 but then that was several years ago and I'm sure that they won't be paying out on that now!0 -

If you want to get rid of your CDs in a relatively stress free way then of course you will not get a fantastic return, if you want a better pay out then you need to put in the effort.
I recently sent 2 boxes of DVD's to MusicMagpie and was pretty pain free process. Scanned the items using my smart phone, processed the order online, printed out some shipping labels for my boxes to be collected by courier, with in about 2 weeks I think a cheque arrived for the full amount quoted (although now I think you can get BACS).
I possibly could have gotten a better return on eBay but to list everything, post everything and pay for everything MM seemed a better bet.0 -
Music Magpie offered me 20 pence for some items last weekend. I sold them individually on Amazon for £4 each this week. More hassle for me personally to drive to some obscure corner shop to drop them off, then 5 mins down the local Post Office and stick them in the post. I am a bit out in the sticks so these so called local drop off points are a round trip of 10 miles for me. Personally thought their pricing was a joke and not worth the effort.0

I once sent some CDs and DVDs to Music Magpie, most of which still had the wrappers on and all were in almost new condition as they were stuff I hardly listened to /watched or unwanted gifts, etc. MM took ages to payout ............and when they did only paid half of what they'd quoted, and as I'd sent quite alot of stuff and they only pay a pittance anyway, they really did me over. So beware! I sent stuff to Music Magpie this time last year, I used their courier service and I know the items arrived as it shows this on the courier website. Despite many emails to them and numerous phonecalls (all that have gone to answerphone), I never recieved my payout. I used them several years back and had no problem at all but after this latest issue I would never use them again.0

I used them for about 200 DVDs a few months back and the prices were terrible, about 25p per DVD. I went with it though and they paid up fine, just took a little while for the checks etc. I used courier collection0

I sold a few of mine, and some were worth more on amazon, some worth more on magpie. At the end of the day, you could sell on ebay and be stuck with them for months, or at bootsale and wait weeks for them to sell. At least with magpie and amazon marketplace, they're gone straightaway, so you know what you'll get paid. It took around a week each time to get the money. It's not great money compared to what you pay, but it's a sort of out of date media now, as lots of people download instead.

I have recently sent my iPhone 4S off to music magpie, the handset was in great working order and condition. Only to be told nearly 1 month later that the handset is liquid damaged and off no value what so ever, they have offered to recycle my handset free of charge but if I want it back it's gonna cost me £15.00 to get it. I'm really angry at this because the handset was working fine as I was only using it 2 days before I sent it to music magpie. I believe this company is a sham and would urge everyone NOT to use this company EVER.0
