  • Someone suggested "piggies in blankets" if you're considering this then have a look in HERON for their Bacon Pieces for 99p you get a large bag (nearly 2lb I think) and if you pick over the bags you may be lucky and find one containing mainly rashers,(rather than gammon offcuts) These are ideal for wrapping either sausages or rolled sausage meat.

If not, streaky bacon tends to be cheaper and you can cut a rasher in half to wrap two sausages. Also cut the sausages in half too rather than by the mini chipolatas, which are more expensive.

Is it just me or do people find when they're eating at someone else's home their appetite isn't as good as normal and less food fills them up quicker?

  • Hi Again

I actually just use the standard sized sausages for piggies in blankets not the chipolatas as they are much smaller and more expensive  Always streaky bacon!!

..........and if you're having peas you could serve them 'a la parisienne' - a spring onion and some lettuce finely chopped, a teaspoon of sugar and a knob of butter all mixed in before serving. Doesn't cost a lot but looks like it does.

Good luck and enjoy the weekend.
