Healthcare worker tax rebate

Hi,

I apologise if this has been asked several times, but I have seen so many sites with information but no forms from the tax office to claim uniform, shoes, tights, fees etc.

I have seen sites that charge, but I would rather do this myself.

Where do I start? What info do I need provide. Thanks everyone :D

Ring the tax office, that would be a good start.

Ive heard about tax allowance for the washing of uniforms, which have company logos on, which only amounts to about 12 pounds a year, which they change your tax code for. But nothing about the others you mention.

Where did you get your information from. I think you've probably been misinformed.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

You should write or phone HMRC and ask to claim for washing of your nurse's uniform, as long as you do this yourself and not your employer. You can also claim back for the last 4 years. You should be

For shoes/tights again mention it to HMRC. This guide will help too.

Any Professional Fees paid to the RCN or NMC can also be claimed so again mention this to HMRC.

    quite the reverse actually

nurses and police are specifc categories of employees who have whole pages dedicated just to them

Jem as already listed the shoes and tights page
here is the uniform page http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/manuals/eimanual/eim67210.htm
here is the rate (it is not £60!) http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/manuals/eimanual/EIM67240.htm

In case our assumption that healthcare worker means you are a nurse is wrong, other types of healthcare workers get other rates - see list here
