Newman & Company - any experience?

I received a postcard yesterday, it just has the address & ref number on the front and on the back it states " I will be calling on 7th June at 7pm" it then gives a phone number and a name. The only other info on it is at the bottom "printed by Newman LS14 1AB & Reg Number.
Does anyone know who these collect for? Am not aware of any outstanding debts that haven't got arrangements already in place. Also have had no previous correspondence from this company, and yet they want to call round!
There is one debt my partner had with the co-op, but when she contacted them in regard to it they said the debt did not exist anymore and had no record of what had happened to it. A similair response was gained from our local debt advice agency, The loan was for a career development loan. Is it likely to be this? And if so, we have prrof that we tried to make arrangements to pay this debt!
Any help, advice welcome!
Thanks In Advance!

I haven't heard of them, but a Google search for "Newman & Company Newman LS14 1AB" confirmed they are debt collectors.
Does the postcard saying they'll be calling round or just calling? If it's just calling, then that means a phone call rather than a personal visit.
When they do, ask them what they are calling about - it's for Newmans to state their business to you. If they won't tell you over the phone without you giving personal details about yourself or your partner, tell them to put whatever they want in writing.
