Laundry

Not sure if this is the right place for this but I hope so.
I heard recently that because my work clothing has company logos on it that because I wash all thids regularly myself, I can get an allowance for it?
Also was told it can be backdated several years.
If this is the case does anyone know how to go about it? I believe it has something to do with income tax.

TIA

Matt

My student sons had part-time jobs with Sainsburys and were entitled to this allowance. It was around £42p.a. and is added on to your tax code so you pay less tax.

Phone HMRC and they will organsie it. It can be backdated up to 6 years.

The proforma letters here will help, PCS were the union who negotiated the allowance. I'm a PCS member so just printed one of these proformas off and filled it out and sent it off, but just change the wording a bit if you aren't a civil servant :)

It took about two weeks for me to get a new coding notice from my tax office.
