Any ideas for little extras?

Hello all,
My debt's are spiraling out of control and I am loosing more money being in the red in the last week before payday and could do with some extra money over my 4 day week part time job!
I have actually approached the local agencies for temp work, however they don't take on people who are only available for selected days only a week. I don't have a licence so can't drive and I work from 6am to mid-day, so the morning cleaning jobs currently advertised are out the window.
I feel a bit stuck at the moment. I'm very sure I heard once that there was a website where people advertise work they want done that they can't do, from repairing cars (providing you can say you have experience in this field of course) to simple work like painting, DIY, basic work and other ad-hoc one off jobs. I can't remember the website address and can't find anything through Google. Anyone else heard of something like this?
Any help is highly appreciated!
Kindest Regards,
James.

Can you find a regular afternoon/twilight shift in a supermarket or cleaning company? I've seen ads for evening cleaners for offices etc in the local free ads...Lurking in a galaxy far far away...0

Hi there,
When I was struggling for money as a student and then again as a graduate, I would sell items on eBay and make about £200 per haul of around 15 items.
I sold clothes, musical instruments, shoes, handbags, books etc. You'd be surprised at what some people will happily bid for - often the things that I thought were low in value would sell for the most!
Just make sure it's good quality items that you don't mind parting ways with. It's important to be brutal too if you really need the money more.
Alternatively, I would suggest starting to look for a full time job if you're struggling on a part-time wage. Also, have you discussed the opportunity of a wage increase with your employer?
They might say no, but then at least you know. In my last job I mentioned it professionally and said I was struggling to survive on the current wage, and the next day had another £1,000 PA added to my salary.
I hope everything works out

Thanks for those ideas, I am actually looking for full time work, just not got anywhere with it yet (i.e rejected at the application), I thought 5 years straight of working in an office and a year in customer service is helpful but is not as easy as I thought!
Either case I have seen cleaning jobs around here, shame the ones I've seen are 6am starts (when I start work) or are 10 miles out, needing a car (which I don't have) or public transport (which cost's a lot around here, First Bus and First Great Western territory). Even then they are AM starts on days that I work.
I've actually applied for a twilight shift at Sainsbury's a month ago, not heard back since, but then my current reference/employer is with a rival...maybe they didn't like that even though I have experience in retail.
Which brings me to the other point. I must thank you for the payrise idea, very good indeed, but as my employer is a certain company beginning with A (and end's in A), it's a big fat no, I'm lucky to actually get paid
Basically they try their hardest to send people home early, and will do anything to save on wages. They do like to get us to work hard, rota a load of people to come in so that the work is done 3 hours early, then persuade people to go home (or moan if we refuse). I tell you what that alone drives me up the wall, that's also why I'm looking for another job, never known such a stingy company!
Nonetheless, thank you for the ideas though, I don't think there is much more I can do then really apart from just cracking on for a full time job when it appears.
Just been landed with a £1,000 council tax bill leaving me now in circa £4,000 in the red  :mad:0 -
Have you looked into a betterware round?
I did this for a while when the kids were small and we were struggling with money.
You have to deliver their catalogue door to door and then go back 3 or 4 days later to collect it and any orders.
Then when the orders are sent off and you get the goods, you deliver them and collect the payments.
A coordinator delivers you a stack of catalogues and the goods and collects the payment weekly and you deduct your commission from that.
The catalogues are redelivered by you till they do a new print run so now and then you buy a couple more to keep the numbers up and replenish any that have gone astray(they costs pennies and the initial new print run are free each time).
It is very flexible . You could deliver catalogues in an evening and collect, another evening and then deliver goods on your days off .
Kleeneze do a similar set up but are more competitive and I think have a set up cost of some sort while Betterware costs you nothing up front .0 -
