The one day service is not available for lost passports. Your friend's passport was not lost.MercilessKiller wrote: »She's upset enough so pretty frustrating to be getting messed about now by them.
They are not messing her about. They have told her their procedure, and they are sending a replacement. It is simply unfortunate that your gf needs to travel more quickly than they can provide the card.0 -

Jacques, please don't try to confuse the guy with facts.
It is clear to me that he will not agree with anyone that does not support his point of view.
Ah well... I for one will leave him to it.0 -

Jacques comments makes sense - Yours does not.
Re-read your own post, REMEMBERING that they have already accepted she's in the system so they know she had a railcard. It doesn't make sense does it?[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

So there is no identification number on the card to link the purchase with the purchaser? If not why not?
This topic was discussed on a similar thread recently here
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4674053
(where a posters daughter had set off for Glastonbury forgetting her railcard and was charged £60 for the 'non-railcard' equivalent ticket).
Basically at present there is no requirement to actually possess a railcard at the time you purchase a ticket at 'railcard' prices (although I'm not sure if you would be able to in person at a ticket office). If a railcard reference number had to be quoted at the time of purchase this would not be possible.
This allows a person to take maximum advantage of cheap advance fares but still exploit the full validity period of a railcard by buying the tickets online far in advance saying that they will have a rail card but then only buying the railcard immediately prior to travel.
If there was no requirement for a person to show the railcard when travelling, then there are a number of ways that less that honest people could potentially exploit the system to deprive the rail companies of revenue- for example one person with a railcard could buy cheap tickets for a whole train full of people.0 -
Thanks for the link poosticks.
So the railcard has an ID number on it and a photo. That being the case I can't really see a reason why the railcard website says you have to pay full price if your card is stolen. It's not exactly difficult for the railcard user to provide retrospective proof, even if they have to pay again but get it refunded on the production of the replaced railcard. Update everyone!
Kate went to Kings X ticket office and explained the situation and what she had been told by everyone.
They told her while it says in the terms & conditions they can't do it, they DID do it for her for free with just a crime number and ID.
Kudos for them to actually doing it - Whether they do it regularly or as a one off, who knows. Silly that their Ts & Cs are different from their processes but a happy ending!!!
Thanks for all the helpful comments![FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

MercilessKiller wrote: »Hi Guys,
My girlfriend was travelling on the Tube today and was unfortunately pick pocketed with them taking her Oyster card and Railcard. Oyster card only had a tenner on it so no biggie, but her 16-25 YP railcard is more of an issue.
We have a train booked on Saturday to Leeds which is like £100+ for a full price ticket. It was booked a month ago using her railcard.
She called the railcard contact number earlier today - They take a week to replace a lost/stolen card so they won't give her a new one till next week.
Meanwhile, Nationail Rail simply told her that she can't travel on that ticket without the railcard regardless of excuse as to why she doesn't have it.
So now she's completely stuck! What on earth is she meant to do? It seems ridiculously that she has been a victim of a crime and is now being told she's not allowed to travel on a ticket she's bought...
Any advice would be much appreciated but I can't believe she's been treated like this by the rail companies. So much for looking after customers..
Thanks!
Did she/you buy the ticket with a credit card?
Some offer free travel insurance.
Did you pay then extra pound insurance? you may be able to claim
Did you buy it over the internet, you may be covered to claim a refund?
You still might be able to get a discounted rail ticket and save some money.
Good luck.Fred Bloggs0 -
Thanks Mr G - Travel insurance didn't cover it but as per my previous post, they did resolve it!!![FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."
