I would be interested in hearing any negative experience with this airline - especially with regards to flight changes. We travelled with them to Orlando for our honeymoon and they changed the plane and added a refuelling point. Now this was OK for us but when we got there, we found that inspite of paying for business seats with 50 inch pitch and personal entertainment systems, we received 38 inch pitch seats with nothing more than head phone sockets (which were in fact faulty). Our return flights were on the correct plane and we got proper seats and it also allowed us to see that the outward seats were in fact premium economy seats (and not particularly nice ones at that!).
We were in touch with globespan with regards to this. We felt quite strongly because we paid a lot of money for a special honeymoon experience and we ended up with our first few days wrecked firstly due to the awkward flight and secondly because of the discomfort from awkward sleeping positions and having to squint and contort to see the TV screen at the front of the plane. They basically took the view that they were covered in their T&Cs to make whatever changes were necessary. They did 'kindly' offer a £50 per person compensation (vouchers). Given that the difference between a one way business and premium economy flight was multiples of this, I replied that I felt it was inappropriate. However, they declined to budge.
I have read on various websites about people who have had bad experiences on this flight - the general opinion is that, even though you pay for it, there is no guarantee that you will get a business class seat. I would be interested in hearing any further stories and if anyone would be willing to back up a letter to the local press.
Many thanks
Adam

except for the general public when it can mean whatever they want it to.

The way I see is that you paid for a service and that service was not delivered. Have a chat with consumer advice. I pretty sure they'll say the same. Given the difference between business and econ seats if they reckon you have a case then it would be well worth pursuing it in the small claims court.
Globespan are a bit of a 'Del boy' operation. They have found a lucrative contract in India for 2 of the 767 aircraft that were intended to fly the American routes this summer. To cover their schedules they have subbed in cheaper aircraft variants (757 this week). I would wager that anybody who has paid for a 50'' business seat ex BFS this summer may well be disappointed.Timmay!0
