Classic Car Insurance for Northern Ireland

Can anyone tell me how old a car has to be to get classic insurance ? Have looked on the net and it seems to be at least 15 years. Someone told me you could get classic on a car of more than 10 years old.
Also you can still both drive on your own car as well with out taking one car off the road to drive the one on the classic insurance. Is this correct ?

I think it varies from company to company. The section of the website is unavailable at the minute but try http://www.aon.com/uk/en/indiv/private_clients.jsp

As far as I'm aware you have a separate classic policy.

It depends on the car. A 10 year old ford fiesta wont qualify, but a 10 year old porsche probably will.

Was thinking of maybe an mgf or a mazda mx5. We both have our own cars but we dont want to get rid of either of them as you sometimes need more than a 2 seater car. The kids are up a bit now ( daughter has own car )and we rarely all go out as a family.
Had thought of changing the Insurance over on my car for the summer but then my own car would be sitting on the drive -NOT Insured
will maybe ring the insurance company this week but would trust the advice more from this site.lol

I dont see how thats relevant? Do admiral do classic insurance? And the O/P wont have full bonus on the proposed car to get the premiums down.

I use Aon for my 91 Celica, £245 a year for me and the missus as a Future classic. I'd recommend them highly after the way they dealt with a mates claim.

Rang Abbey Insurance this morning and they quoted me £276 ( with aon ) for an mgf 1996 valued at £2500 - havnt actually got a car yet just looked on autotrader for an example.
Would aon deal with me direct or do i need an agent/broker ?
