Mortgage first year of teaching job

Hi.
Me and my partner are looking to take a mortgage out on a new build property. He already has a mortgage of 6 years.
I have just started a job in teaching (and as with many jobs, initially it is only for 1 years, but likelihood is it will become permanent) He is the main earner on £35,000 and I will be starting out on £21,588 which is likely to rise over the next 3/4 years to £25/26K. (house is approx £220,000 with 85% LTV)
What is the likelihood on getting a mortgage considering I have no employment history (although partner does) and initial contract only for 1 year (although likelyhood it will become permanent).
I know Natwest will give graduates mortgages with no proof of earnings, even if in probationary period, with just a contract as proof of earnings (would this apply in our situation, as I am a graduate as well).
Thanks in advance

As long as you have a letter confirming start date, salary and length of contract, they should view (I am not an expert I must admit) this as suitable proof. I think the best thing to do would be to ring up and ask for clarification but generally teaching jobs (most jobs for the govt) are seen as solid, so you might be okay.Feb 2012 - onwards MF achieved
