I have had some serious problems with debt over the past 12 months. The vast majority of this being due to payday loans. When I finally spoke to family about my problem I was lucky enough to receive financial help to aid with getting debt free as soon as possible.
One of the companies that I'd had a payday loan with was 247moneybox. I had been recieving frequent emails and text messages encouraging me to use their fast repay page. When continuing to their site i was prompted for security info etc and then asked to enter payment info. Through all texts and e-mails it was stated that I owed £345.08 and again when making the payment it said £345.08. However having checked my bank transactions they have taken a single payment of £755.58
At no point did I agree to this payment. Is there anything I can do to claim any of the money back? The extra money is enough to pay of another loan. Any help would be grateful.

Go to your bank, report it as an unauthorised transaction and request an immediate chargeback. The bank will try and fob you off. Don't take no for an answer. You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'0

Thank you ValHaller. Do I need any proof when I go to the bank? What are the chances of this being successful?0

You have very little to prove. The bank must prove to you that the charge was authorised. And the bank, if it can get off its fat backside would have to seek proof from 247moneybox that the transaction was authorised, rather than making you prove that it was not. I don't doubt they will try it on with you to get out of proving anything or recrediting your money.Thank you ValHaller. Do I need any proof when I go to the bank? I know its been a while but I wanted to leave a quick update on the situation. I contacted 247moneybox via email with the following:
I recently attempted to pay of an overdue account. Having received a number of emails and text messages asking me to pay my overdue loan of £345.08 I used a link to your site where I was prompted for security info and subsequently payment details. I then authorised you to take a payment of £345.08. It has since come to my attention that you have taken a substantially larger sum of £755.58 from my account. This amount was not authorised by myself and would like the sum of £410.50 returned to the same account that it was taken from. If this amount is not returned I will report it to my bank as an unauthorised transaction and request an immediate charge-back.
It took a few days for a reply as this was over a weekend. But I received an email confirming an overcharge and that if I contacted them to confirm my account details the money would be returned. I am pleased to say the overcharged sum has since been returned to my account.
Once again VanHaller for your help.0 -
I love a good payday loan success story, good for you for fighting it!Some times you have to hold back to go forward to where you want to be.

Well done, it may have frightened them into thinking that the bank would take the whole lot back and they would end up with nothing.
And they would have to go through the process again.
Good for you for sticking to your guns.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
