I've just made 2 of these, in the oven now, hope they are nice
This 2-3 day thing, does it matter ?One day I might be more organised...........

Well, since you've made two, you've given yourself the perfect opportunity to test the theory! Eat one as soon as it's ready, and put the other in foil for 3 days. Compare taste and report back so I know if I was wasting my time waiting!:rotfl:
I don't suppose it'll make a huge difference. Someone on the thread said it was nice warm, so they obviously didn't wait too long. :rolleyes:If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

:rotfl: Too late they're tucking into the first one now, only took an hour to cook, I made 2 but split the mix so was half in each, 1lb loaf tin and 7" cake tin. Pleased too as it's risen to the top of the cake tin. Will put the biggest in the fridge and see how long it lasts :rotfl:
Verdict, I think it's nice and the kids want more, I think they like itOne day I might be more organised...........

Dead simple recipe -
4oz self raising flour (plain or wholemeal)
4oz soft marg
4oz sugar (stuff you would put in your tea/coffee - caster?)
2 eggs (medium or large)
1. mix marg and sugar in bowl (or in food processor) till you get a mixed mush
2. sift flour into marg and sugar in bowl and mix in
3. crack open 2 eggs into cup and slightly whisk
4. slowly pour egg mixture in and mix
5. spoon either into greased/lined baking tin or into individual fairy cake cups
6.cook for 20 mins - 1/2 hr at 180 celcius
this is a really basic recipe and can be added to - eg. drops of food colouring to turn cake mixture different colour, add cocoa powder to make choccie cake, add flavourings (only a little as can be overpowering!).
has worked for my family for 3 generations and grandma was professional cake maker/patissiere(?)
can then be iced or whatever you want - two with jam and/or cream inbetween makes a nice teatime/afternoon tea cake (if you are that posh!)0
