Time to set up some parental control settings on your iPad by the sounds of it.The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.0

Why would you trust an 8 year old with your iPad and no supervision? There have been enough horror stories about this sort of thing lately in the news to be a warning.0

I have to put a password in every time something is purchased through the App Store? Thought every iPad was the same0

That is what happens when parents spoil their children and give them everything they want.
It is not your sons fault, you are to blame as the parent of an 8 year old child.0 -

Apparently on some apps the password is sort of remembered for 15 minutes after an initial purchase allowing subsequent purchases without the need to enter a password.0 -
I doubt this eight year old was aware that he was purchasing anything.
Any road, more fool you for putting temptation within his reach. An iPad is not an appropriate tool for someone so young.0 -

Totally disagree they use them at school!0 -
I'd say an iPad IS appropriate for an eight year old, but only under supervision and with parental controls in place. Kids don't think that what they're buying costs real money. All they know is that they want a new app, or something new for their game, and they can click a button to get it.
OP, think yourself lucky that you noticed at £40. Have you seen some if the bills that mount up?0
