The BBC have cracked down on software that allows you to download programmes to play on your iPod. You will now only be able to stream the programmes in real-time. No more listening to the programmes at your convenience when out for a walk.

True, although some (not all) programmes are available as podcasts, and you can what you like with these once they have been downloaded.0

You need the excellent BBC Radio player app. That gum you like is coming back in style.0
-
I would also need a device to use the app on and (possibly) a data allowance subscription. As far as I can see such apps primarily use streaming - the downloadable off-line programmes are very limited.
A few hundred pounds for an unnecessary new device and a tenner per month for fewer facilities than previously. Sounds like a bargain.0 -
Indeed, got the player on my phone and tablet and very good it is too.
Not forgetting there is a ton of stuff from the Beeb on iTunes. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Just downloaded BBC radio iplayer app onto iPad but can't work out how to switch it off when finished listening!
Any ideas gratefully received0 -
Mnnn, on my Nexus you swipe down from the top of the screen and there is a stop button. That gum you like is coming back in style.0

Thank you ... When I swiped down I got the 'done' button to finish!0

A sampling programme should be able to record anything that's coming out of your speakers0
-
A sampling programme can isolate and record anything coming out of one window never mind speakers. But that only works in real time. It is not a solution to the problem.0
-
This is a real shame but as they say a sampling program can help in the interim.0
