I also came across The Spirited Sea by the horror writer Simon Clark free on Kindle today. Looks like one for the James Herbert or Stephen King fans.
Lord Byron is a wealthy and eccentric ghost-hunter.
He puts together a team of misfits to hunt for the paranormal.
But to Kit and Fletcher, it's just a job. And these are only ghost stories.
Or are they?
One night in the cemetery, things take a turn that none of them expected. After falling into a grave pit, Kit finds himself face to face with a corpse. Eliza Jinny Threlcoates. Died 1842. Perfectly preserved with not a trace of decay.
From out of nowhere a woman appears - ‘If you want to film real ghosts, come to this address tomorrow night.'
The ghost-hunters find themselves on stretch of beach where the tide has mysteriously rolled out for miles.
And they are about to discover that death is only a stage of evolution.
'The Spirited Sea' is a chilling and thought-provoking story that is perfect for fans of James Herbert and Stephen King.
Simon Clark's work has been widely praised.
‘A master of eerie thrills’ Richard Laymon.
'Britain's greatest living horror writer.' SFX
'Inventive and fast moving - good old fashioned fun.' - The Washington Post.
