I have a set of 8 coloured overhead projector slide pens. They are permanent (not waster soluble/washable) and have a fine point so are great for writing on items to go into the freezer.

    Hi

Yep CD pens/OHP pens are good, if you want to make cheap stickers try masking tape, much cheaper than stickers :) Pens I get from the £1 shop usually.

So DID I  until after defrosting a whole load of BBQ stuff last summer I found anyone, who could read backwards, could tell what had been for dinner by looking at the floor of the fridge.
As the food had defrosted, the dampness on the bags had transfered the permanent marker to the plastic of the fridge... it took weeks & neat bleach to get all the lettering off :rotfl:

I need a freezer pen. Mine is on its last legs. I got it at International stock in Birmingham before we moved here in 1991.

All the freezer pens these days seem to be of the 'Sharpie' permanent marker type and this isn't what I want. They mark permanently and it is difficult to scrub right away so I can write on again. The pen that I have at present stays on in the freezer, but comes off with the green panscrub pad when washing up.

Does anyone know where you can get these? It was Kuretake brand.

A lot of permenant marker pens writing can be removed with strong alcohol so try removing it with something like neat vodka (be generous rather than stingy with the amount you use - it needs to soak in a bit)... It doesn't always completely remove it all (especially if written on a frosted/rough textured label on a tub) but it does a decent job on smooth areas... Essentially you are rehydrating the writing with a solvent, allowing it to be more easily removed.

Spot the geeky scientist who just went to double check that ~35% alcohol would still do the job. :o We normally use 70% in the lab! :rotfl:
