Did you manage to get away without her getting suspicious that you were going to do the deed?

It went great... I managed optimum surprise.. I programmed the sat nav in the morning and set it to cambridge, without telling her. I said i was taking her away overnight but wouldn't tell her where, just told her to follow Mr Tomtom.

I'm pretty sure from our arrival in Cambridge onwards she was suspicious. I was nervous all day and she can read me like a book. Apparently she was going to tell me at one point "I'll marry you! relax!" but thought that would be mean. She still cried for 1/2 an hour after I eventually asked her

I only asked her dad the night before - she really wanted to make sure the rest of her friends and family would be surprised and I certainly achieved that.

We're now happy to be engaged but a bit upset that our nice relaxed lives have been turned into a wedding planning hell!
