Ocado delivery areas
Anyone know where to fina a map of Ocado delivery areas, I can get Asda, Tesco, Sainsburys, Waitrose but no Ocado!
I thought Ocado were the leader in online delivery so suprised to see them not deliver when the other 4 all do.
Do they only cover certain areas, I assumed as long as you were near a Waitrose so they could collect the food they could deliver?

I don't think there's a map - you just put your postcode in the website and it tells you if they deliver.
I too had always thought that they picked up your order from your nearest big Waitrose but that's not the case, they work from central depots which are apparently quite widely spread, so it depends where you are in relation to the depot.0 -
Ocado do a lot of products that Waitrose don't sell and Waitrose do their own delivery service now. Even Waitrose tend to get online grocery orders from central depots now (though these are different to the Ocado ones) xx0

Ocado's service declined to the point where in January I decided enough was enough and complete a 35 mile round trip to Waitrose.
Ocado used to be brilliant; in theory they still should be but when you're complaining about six to ten items ever week in a £70 shop something is wrong.
So if you want squashed items, crisps under soup cans, same day expiry when on latest delivery slot, bruised fruit and ripped packets; then you're missing out if Ocado don't deliver.
I really believe it is the drop in service that has lead to the Morrisons talks, but face it, without Waitrose Ocado are nothing.0 -
I disagree that Ocado are nothing without Waitrose. I have found Ocado products to be very good. The service is amazing. It is always delivered on time, I am always advised if there will be anything missing, BEFORE the shopping arrives.
The packing is the only thing that I can say is a bit of a downfall. Yes I have had my bread under 8 cans of pepsi or crisps under the bottle of lemonade but a quick tick in the refund box and its not a problem.
I have been ordering from Ocado for over 2 years now. Very regularly and I think in that 2 years I have had 2 substituted or missing items.
All the fruit and vegetables are extremely fresh and I have only had short expiry dates on bread occasionally.
All in all I think that Ocado are fantastic. I would not trust anyone else to do my shopping. I have two orders coming this weekend, drinks and heavy things tonight and fresh products for the week ahead Sunday morning.
Incidentally I ordered from Waitrose Delivery to see what they were like. My order was £92 and only £56 worth of shoping arrived! It was a Sunday afternoon and I was having family for tea .... as you can imagine I wasnt too happy ...
Try Ocado, you will not be disappointed ... :T0 -

I think you'll find that when it comes to customer service that Ocado are ranked top. I've been using them for a year despite having Waitrose in town.
They stock a larger selection, the website is much better than the opposition, I've only once had a substitution and twice had an unavailable item. Yes the packing is a bit odd at times, but The drivers are always helpful, polite and friendly, they call ahead to see if you are available for earlier deliveries,
The delivery slots are only 1 hour,
Min order is only £40,
The delivery charges are from 99p (free over £75)
If an item is damaged or has leaked they refund all the shopping affected in that bag often adding a goodwill gesture. A couple of times I have complained about the quality of an item (not the fault of Ocado) and they have taken the matter up with their suppliers, refunded me and contacted me with the outcome of their investigations.
Now would Sainsburys, Asda or Tesco give this kind of service ? not from my experience, I'm sticking with Ocado.
And I find it cheaper overall. I can book a delivery 3 wks ahead and take advantage of offers for a longer time and spread the cost. The price you pay is the price at the time of ordering and you can amend and add items to within 24 hrs of delivery. Unlike all the others who charge the price on the day of delivery and not the day of ordering.
And for anyone thinking about using them, why not register and wait a while and instead of £15 off of £75 you may get a £20 off of £60 like my oh did and then on the 5th shop a choice of champagne or chocolates. I'm getting the champers:D0 -
Dear RufydoofyM
I agree with all you say about Ocado. Its nice to
Know someone feels the same about them. However free delivery over £75? I used to get free deliveries in the early days but as I ordered more and more the delivery charges went up. I now have a free 3 month trial and then £6.99 a month for deliveries , as many as I like as long as over £40. Has something changed, because my deliveries are always over £75 thank you0 -
Cannot comment on their delivery areas. I don't do my food shop online often, but now and again have to, and after trying all the others, Ocado are the only ones I will use again. The service was excellent.0

Before taking up the 3Mth trial smart pass I managed to get free and 99p slots on a Sat evening but I was booking as soon as they were released. My 3mth trial ran out just after my oh was offered a 6mth trial. Which had them voted as top for customer service, I thought I would be accused of working for them but I don't. Good customer service is often hard to find along with reliability and as long as it doesn't mean I spend too much I'm a happy bunny.
mums a convert too. Although Waitrose is free on orders over £50 she has had alot of short dates and missing and substituted items but since shopping with Ocado over the last 6mths this hasn't happened once.0 -
It really depends on your area. Ocado went through a phase of being absolutely appalling in this area, loads of missing items, broken items, stuff that was clearly mouldy, extra items we hadn't ordered that they insisted on collecting meaning we had to wait in for hours on the next day, rude drivers who would swear down the phone at us because they couldn't find our place (which no other delivery drivers have any problem finding)-you name it. Sure they refund you for missing/damaged items but the hassle was just too much for us. They did improve slightly and the last 2-3 orders weren't so bad but for what we buy at the moment ocado works out more expensive anyway. Waitrose started off being very good but after they switched their distribution from an in-store warehouse to a large depot out in the sticks; it all went downhill.
I think you can tell how good the online delivery of a store is by how many of their vans you see in your area. I rarely see Ocado vans these days but in the past I would see several a day; so it isn't just me who has been disappointed it seems. Waitrose you barely see. Asda and Tesco you see moderately often, but the winner is Sainsbury's, just to our development alone there are an average of 3 deliveries a day and we always see their vans about. They are fantastic in this area; they deliver from a large store a few miles away and as such the drivers tend to have a good knowledge of this area and others nearby, they never have any missing or damaged items, and they are always on time. We had one bad experience with them when it was really snowy back in January however they gave us £25 credit and bent over backwards to rectify things xx0
