A few years ago there were loads of threads seeming to say that most loan and credit card agreements were faulty and virtually nobody needed to pay the money back.

Don't see many of these threads anymore, has something changed?

    I think most were advance fee scams!
    Some guy called "neverindoubt" or Niddy was quite evangelical about it.

    It was ruled (fairly IMO) that finance companies could "re-construct" a credit agreement if the original could not be located.

    Martin introduced a quota system for insane new threads so there was a gradual decline in the number of people asking if they really had to bother paying back their loan/credit cards because some cold caller told them that if they gave them some money they could cancel all their debts for them.

    It's a shame because I always felt that kind of thread bought out the best from the regulars on here. Some of the replies were brilliant.
