self assessment security checks

Can the hmrc pay you any time of the day or is it only once a day when it gets updated????0

Providing HMRC has valid bank details for you then they will pay the money straight to your account at any time after the "security checks" are concluded.
Hope you get your money back soon!0 -
We have had several clients whose refunds have been removed from the automated repayment system for checking.
There seems to be no rhyme or reason why. No pattern. Some refunds are large, some small.
We found out that there is a random process going on here with one HMRC office (possibly in Bristol) doing all this manual checking.
Even HMRC front line staff don't know where it is.
All we know is that, once pulled from the system for manual checking, the self assessment account with HMRC states the money has been repaid even though it is not.
As Andy says this can take weeks but no more repayment supplement (interest) is added ot the refund in recompense.[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

If the refund is for 12/13 then no repayment supplement is due anyway until after 31/01/14.
However, this has been going on for quite some time now. We have clients whose refunds qualified for supplement but they didn't receive any extra whilst their cash was held up for weeks in this "checking" process.
Not exactly fair, is it?0 -

No it’s not.
Back in my days when all repayments were all done manually the repayment supplement was calculated at the same time as the repayment so if there was any hold up in the repayment process the supplement could prove to be wrong.
As far as I recall there was no mechanism to have the supplement reworked during the repayment process but if we later spotted the error or the taxpayer (sorry, customer) requested it, it was no problem to issue an additional payment.
Things don’t seem to have changed very much and, whilst it must be pretty frustrating to have to ask, it is still possible to claim any additional supplement.
