Tuesday 2nd July - what DFW things will you do today??!

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym .

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending .

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important

Hello Ladies and Gents (do we have any gents at the moment? Where has Karb gone?). Hope no one minds me popping up the thread this morning.

Life casa NTBY is rather the same as it has been, Im afraid - manic and stressful. Lists are really helping though, so here we go:

- Work work
- bike everyplace I need to go
- tea in using leftovers from Monday
- driving lesson in afternoon (test next week!)
- give provisional licence which I got last week to the driving school
- harass OH for dates that he can leave so I can book my flight back to Europe and on to the US
- check banking
- pay housekeeper with rent from roommies
- get OH to set up a bank account so he can receive rent from new roommie
- evening watching boardwalk empire and having a snuggle
- call fixer on my bike registration nightmare

Hugs to all!

NBTY xx

    Morning peeps

    Thanks for starting NTBY
I am back at work this morning after a crazy three days of moving, not proven to be very MSE but had to be done!

    - Checked all bank accounts
    - OH has the day off, Virgin phone line being fitted and carpet today
    - Transfer money from house account to own account for carpet payment
    - B/L/D from stores
    - Eat healthily and drink lots of water
    - Write cheque for DD's birthday party deposit
    - Send commission form for purges (£5)
    - Confirmed DM babysitting Saturday while me and OH are working
    - Research replacement TV remote for DB3's TV as is seems it has been lost in transportation...
    - Put our bedroom together after carpet fitting today! Very much looking forward to this.

Other than that, work hard, sell lots and sort my new house out some more when I get home :D

    Jx
Nothing to report as yet...give me a minute...!

    Morning all,

Thanks for starting us off NTBY, sorry to hear everything is still really stressful at the moment, hope it quietens down a bit for you.
Josie - Glad you're all moved in now :)

We're back from our weekend away & I am feeling very relaxed, unfortunately today is a day of catching up on washing, food shopping etc but we have the rest of the week off work still so it'll be good to get this out of the way today so we can relax some more over the next few days!

    Today I have/will:-
    • Food from stores
    • Dinner from meal plan
    • Log calories & exercise on free apps
    • Checked postcode lottery & birthday bingo
    • Heating off
    • Check online banking
    • Check for new mystery shopping opportunities
    • Enter some comps
    • Do some surveys
    • Declutter & flylady
    • Washing on eco setting using less than the recommended dose of washing liquid
    • Hang up to dry
    • Create meal plan for the month
    • Do big grocery shop at Sainsbugs using our reloadable card, 5% off & means we can keep track of our grocery spends much easier, need to stick to list too!
    • Pop to butchers for meat as they are cheaper & much better quality
    • Buy lottery tickets for syndicate for the month
    • Pay off CC H :j
    • Pole class this evening, not very MSE as it's a lot of money to spend tonight but by prepaying for a block of lessons it works out much cheaper in the long run
Hope everyone is ok & has a great, MSE day x

Only have a little work this afternoon and I sorted my freezer yesterday, so am having a cooking day. Fish pie nearly done and will have two spare for the freezer. Then it's on to using up rather bendy celery in soup with some blue cheese that probably is bluer than it should be :D

    Afternoon all,
@josie - It's so exciting getting a new home....I loved it. I just wanted to get home from work every day as soon as I could, to get a bit more stuff sorted out. Have fun!
    Positive money-saving activity today:
*Laundry done overnight on Economy 7, 30 deg, Mrs Scroogey-pants with the powder. Done.
*All line drying. Pegged out early before rain comes. Done.
*Carry out rubber lamb plans made yesterday by making pizzas & mince.
*Cut lettuce, cucumber & coriander from garden. Done.
*Feed all greenhouse veg plus outdoor tomatoes & courgettes. Done.
*Plant out my emergency back up beans to replace the worst of the slug attacked ones. Done.
*Clear old lettuce trough & re-sow with mixed salad leaves (free seed) Done.
*Hoe leek bed. (The weeds are endless this year) Done.
*Set bread maker for pizza dough & rolls for rest of week's packed lunches. Done.
*Check for surveys. Done BUT will check back to Onepoll later as infuriatingly, I am 5p away from cash in level of £40 & can't get it!
*Make list of last bits of camping gear we actually NEED rather than want, as planning to pick these up tomorrow from local camping shop. (Booked a night to test the tent....& our ability to put it up...this weekend....actually, have packed a crowbar, as mr f is a big guy & doesn't know his own strength & I can see tent pegs being hammered in that will then require a crowbar or the powers of telekinesis - or both - if we're ever to get them out again.....)
*Keep daily diet log book filled in. Boring, repetitive, but it does help, with both weight loss & budget, as now we've decided to have a bit of a renewed concerted effort this summer, we're already noticing that certain food supplies are lasting longer & not having to appear on the shopping list as often.
    Think that's everything,
    My best wishes to everyone,
    foxgloves x

    Afternoon peeps,

Hi to all new members and hugs to those that need them.

Thanks to NTBY for staring the thread

Another day of ‘study leave’ and I’ve not done any studying today, so need to get motivated otherwise I’ll never pass this exam !

    So, today’s plan….

    • Meals from stores
    • Read papers online
    • Check banking
    • Swept odd pennies of interest to my savings account
    • Started sealed pot by putting in 2x £2 coins
    • Study, study, study
    • Need to phone stepchange again as they sent me 2x May statements instead of May and June’s statements
    • Need to post off a couple of birthday cards – will put them in a large envelope and put 1x stamp on them instead of 3x stamps

Think that is it for me.

    Take care all

Sorry to hear, Ziggy, that your little lad is still poorly. These bugs just wipe you out, don't they.....the bug symptoms are bad enough, then not being able to eat just makes you feel even more weak, wobbly & horrid. Hope he picks up soon.
