How do you work out payments on old system? + Benefits Q

Options
I am currently looking for work and want to work out how much CSA I will pay-per-wages (probably NMW part-time working up to full-time) - I am on the 'old system' (which seems a little unfair in comparison to me as you pay more on that) and having read the PDF its all "gooble-de-gook" to me and it seems they can make up any old amount?, I have read they are going start "charging" for the service too...

also, is it true that if the parent who has care of the child is in receipt of benefits that the CSA/DWP keep the payments from the other parent to cover this?

thanks

I dont know how to work out payments.

The PWC will keep every penny of maintenace paid by yourself (law changed in April 2010)

Charging will not be for a long time yet - and you wont be charged on the old system, you will be moved to CSA3.

    That just isn't so.

Some people pay more on the old rules than they would on the new, and some people (particularly those with high housing costs) pay more on new rules than they would have on the old rules.

It all depends on the exact circumstances of the case.

There used to be a social security rule (not a CSA rule) that took maintenance into account when calculating certain benefits including income support.

It was abolished a few years ago. It was never part of the CSA's remit anyway.

It's worth pointing out that there are also approximately 270,000 NRPs assessed as nil-rate on old rules who would be paying at least £5 per week on CS2.
