Police are observing a van. The police car and the van both leave from the same point, at the same time and travel the same 35 miles.

The van travels at 48 mph and the police car is following from a distance at 40 mph.

How long will it take the police car to catch up with the van?

In case anybody wants to try it themselves I have blanked out my answer - If you click and hold your mouse button down on the words "Suggested Answer" below then drag your mouse down the page the answer will be revealed.

Suggested Answer:-

Answer = 8 minutes 45 seconds

60((35/40)-(35/48))=35/4 minutes
