My ex recently asked for a reassessment, and stopped paying his usual payments. I had no warning, and used to them not paying on and off, I ended up financially worse off for this as it was over a month before I realised it wasn't going to be paid. I phoned to be told what was happening, but reassured Id get a back payment to cover Feb-when its sorted.
2 weeks ago they decided that his new payment is just £7 a wk between my two children.
I struggled to undestand this, as he's working full time, and claiming working tax/child tax. He has one child living with him.
To make matter worse, a phonecall last week told me that he has overpaid, and I now owe him £86....
How this has happened I don't know, as he stopped paying at the same time as it got reassessed (can they backdate it if he hasn't informed them of changes?) Ive had nothing since beginning of February, and been told I won't be paid until his overpayment is paid off.
Im assuming he has meddled in some way, hidden his tax credits (I dont believe his new partner is working, so its not that) and worked part time at the time of the assessment. The CSA are refusing to do another assessment. I havent seen him, neither have the children (his choice) in 3 years.
Any help appreciated.

My advice to you is go straight to your MP. Do not spend weeks/months/years talking to one CSA agent after another trying to figure out why this has happened to your case. Go straight to MP, a caseworker should be assigned. At least then all dealings will be with the same person so your running around will be limited.99.9% of my posts include sarcasm!Touch my bum :money:Tesco - £1000 , Carpet - £20, Barclaycard - £50, HSBC - £50 + Car - £1700SAVED =£0Debts - £28500

Thanks for the reply.
I'm already clerical, and had an MP on the initial case as it took so so long to get going in the first place.
I tend to have one person dealing with it, and usually others won't talk and refer me to the named worker, although its changed from one person to a new one during this assessment.0 -
I've been through all this overpayment cr*ap. Do what Marker has advised and get straight on to your MP.
For the time being they will keep deducting the' overpayment'. There is nothing you can do about it. I've been there.
Phone MP tomorrow to book an appointment at their next surgery and, at the same time, ask the assistant to phone the Parliamentary hotline who can then explain the situation. You need a complete account breakdown from whence your case began, an explanation as to how the overpayment arose and an explanation as to why they have made such a stringent pay back without any warning to yourself nor discussion.
Is your case at Bolton?0 -
There is nothing to stop YOU asking for a reassessment now...!!! Or appealing the decision...
But unless his situation has changed drastically, then it should not change that much...
Do everything in writing sent recorded delivery for your own sake though...0
