I'm not too sure about the rules on this forum.
Can I ask for reviews about specific brokers?
I'll refrain from naming any of my possible choices for now.

I suppose you can ask for reviews - its an open forum. But a lot of people who have had the advice probably no longer come on this forum as they now have their home?
Maybe look through some posts and see if you like their replies. Most of the active brokers on here i have seen seem to speak a lot of sense.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. ask me , i dont mind recommending one , depending on where you are in the UKNever, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.0 -
You can ask for reviews but the chances of someone using the same broker is remote. Most brokers are small local firms or self employed individuals. You wouldnt expect any internet coverage on them.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0

I think they meant the brokers on this website rather than just in general. You can ask for reviews but the chances of someone using the same broker is remote. My situation makes my choice of brokers and mortgages limited as its a right to buy with a relative who is 70+.
These are 2 that I have first spoken to.

Their fees seem pretty similar but I just don't know what I'm looking for in a broker.
Does the broker have much of an effect on whether you accepted for a mortgage?0 -
i thought you meant actual brokers on here as forum users ?Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.0

You have posted previously that you felt a fee of £695 to a broker was expensive and unaffordable.
You are looking to put together a non standard case which will require a bit more work than a standard application.
You may be better working backwards and indicating what fee you are prepared to pay and see if anybody makes a recommendation.
You already have 2 brokers you mention so clearly you are unhappy with these. Be careful of instructing too many brokers. Ensure that no applications are being submitted as credit score will be lowered and duplicate apps could be made.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. I was only asking for other options on my other forum post.
I have now spoken to another broker whose fees are similar so I am now at ease that I wasn't being ripped off simply due to my circumstances.
I will find the money for the fees if I have no other option, even if it means using my credit card.
I have no feelings yet on the 2 brokers I have spoken to, I thought it would be normal to shop around and compare brokers.
I have not instructed any of these brokers, all I did was call up and ask if they would be able to help in my situation.
I have posted on this forum for help and advice on my first mortgage, so I'm sorry I don't know what is normal or expensive when it comes to fees!0 -
"Our fee based approach is £149 payable on application and £2,995 payable on completion of the mortgage. We will refund any commission we get from the lenderxxzeezeexx wrote: »theoriginalmortgagecompany.com
Another approach is a fee of £149 payable on application, plus a further fee payable on completion to bring the total fee to 1.99% of the mortgage amount. We may recieve commission from the mortgage lender in addition to the fees you pay"
"Berkley Vittoria offer all of these services for free, with the only fee that we charge being our mortgage arrangement fee of £695 which is only payable after your mortgage has completed".righttobuyyourcouncilhouse.co.uk/index.html

I like the fee model of the first one. However, £2995 is a ridiculously high figure. A third of that would be more reasonable.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
