Quite aside from the terrible damage they do to wildlife, this huge fire was caused by one. Firefighters have been campaigning for a while now to get them regulated.
I think they should be banned outright!

I completely agree with you! No idea why they are still allowed
I love the symbollic idea of them, love the photo opportunities they create but they are not worth it for all the risks to wildlife and humans!GC2012: Nov £130.52/£125

They look beautiful but as you say they're dangerous! Who knows where they're going to land and what will become of the left overs?
I remember reading about a year ago about someone (maybe a child) getting badly burnt when the wax fell out, still a light, when it was flying over someone! Just the though of that happening scared the life out of me!0 -
Oh no trinity_enigma, how awful! I'd hate to think my celebrations could cause injury.
I really don't understand how anyone could think "Oh yes, I'll just set alight to this paper object and let it roam wherever the wind takes it"! It's a preposterous thought.
Then again, I've seen too many firework injuries to ever think home firework displays are a good idea, so I'm clearly over cautious!
Really hope that lanterns are banned soon. You had me at your proper use of "you're".0
